This model of psychotherapy is both psychological and anthropological in its orientation. It encourages a process of open inquiry between client and therapist. It is based on the epistemology that nobody should have a monopoly on truth discourse. At the same time, it holds to the claim, that open inquiry should include an exploration of all aspects of cultism; If understanding and healing are the desired outcome. From an anthropological perspective, understanding the religious, ideological and philosophical background from which any belief system derives its values; or has been appropriated into a different cultural and geographical space, should be considered a beneficial approach.
